Daniel Barrett (He/They) is a proud New York based member of Actor’s Equity Association. Daniel is an Actor, Director, Producer, Educator, and Artist. Daniel is originally from Los Angeles, California and is represented for Theatre, Film, & Television by Bret Adams, LTD. Artists’ Agency in New York City. Daniel recently finished playing the role of Scuttle in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, under the direction and choreography of Broadway’s Christopher Rice-Thomson! Prior to that, Daniel starred in the premiere of the new musical “The Imported Bridegroom” at the 14th Street Y in New York City. Other recent credits include Igor in Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein in Colorado. The production won several BroadwayWorld Denver Awards including Best Musical/Ensemble, and Daniel was nominated for Best Leading Actor for their performance as Igor. Daniel is also the Winner of the Broadway World Boston 2022 Awards for playing William Shakespeare in Something Rotten. In the same summer stock resident theatre company in Boston Daniel played the roles of Harry in Mamma Mia (for which Daniel also received a BroadwayWorld nomination) and Kodaly in She Loves Me. At the beginning of 2022 Daniel helped to originate and played the role of Johnny Collins (Louis Armstrong’s first manger) as well as other ensemble tracks in the World Premiere Broadway-bound new musical A Wonderful World at the Miami New Drama|Colony Theatre. Daniel could have also been seen as Betty White as Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls Live: On Stage, Off Off Broadway at The Producers Club in New York. Daniel recently completed his Masters Degree in Educational Theatre at NYU Steinhardt. During his studies he has had opportunities to take classes in both Steinhardt and The Tisch School of the Arts, as well as on campus theatre organizations such as ‘Uproar Theatre Corps.’ through NYU Steinhardt. Daniel graduated with honors from the University of Miami, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre in 2018. Daniel was most recently seen in the role of Bowie in the Party Claw Players YouTube Livestream reading of “A Godawful Small Affair” by Hayley St. James. Other recent credits include performing in the musical “Stars of David” as a part of the first ever Virtual Yiddishkayt Initiative: Yiddish Fest 2020. This summer, Daniel starred as William Shakespeare in ”Shakespeare Over My Shoulder” a brand new original play written and directed by Ted Lange. This past winter, Daniel performed in the first annual YI, NY Yiddishfest Festival through the Yiddishkayt Initiative, directed and produced by Avi Hoffman at Theater for the New City in New York. Daniel was seen in the play “A People” by LM Feldman, as well as “The Great Ostrovsky” by Cy Coleman and Avery Corman. Daniel played the supporting role of Max in Joey & Ron an brand new bubblegum pop musical at The Players Theatre, off broadway! This was an AEA showcase production directed by Elizabeth Nestlerode. In the summer of 2019, Daniel produced and starred in an originally conceived Cabaret event “Summer Stalk”, dedicated to all the shows we almost did this summer. Shortly after Daniel did have the opportunity to perform in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Myers Dinner Theatre. In the Spring of 2019, Daniel played the role of Vinnie Di Ruzzio in the musical comedy Lucky Stiff at The Dutch Apple Dinner Theater in Lancaster, PA! In 2018, Daniel played the role of Ian in the Regional Premiere new play Aunt Jack, by Nora Brigid Monahan. Other Credits include The Modern Major General, (Major General Stanley) in The Pirates of Penzance, The Nurse in Romeo & Juliet, Aldolpho in The Drowsy Chaperone, John P. Wintergreen in The Gershwin's Pulitzer Prize winning musical comedy Of Thee I Sing, Harry The Horse in Guys and Dolls, as well as Artie in Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night all at The Jerry Herman Ring Theatre at The University of Miami. Daniel also performed in 2014 and again in 2017 at the Goerge Nakano Theatre in Torrance, CA as Alexander Hamilton in the staged reading production(s) of George Washington's Boy, an original play written and directed by Ted Lange.
