Daniel Barrett
MuZe: My Evening With Liza is a coming (out) of age story that answers the age old question. What is it about gay people and their obsession with Liza Minnelli? A Muse is a person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist, but a MuZe with a Z, well you’ll just have to come to find out! Written and performed by Daniel Barrett, this world premiere production centers a new Queer voice and follows their journey from early childhood to the present with one absolutely terrific gay icon’s guiding light shinning the way.
MuZe: My Evening With Liza! was selected as one of the 18 finalists (out of 200 + submissions) for The Center at West Park’s 2024 Evolution Festival. The Festival showcases eighteen original works of theater, dance, music, comedy, and interdisciplinary performances by NYC artists in the month of September (MuZe: My Evening With Liza was performed on September 30th, 2024)
Daniel completed an extended run as Benjamin Isaac Cullen in Joshua Harmon’s critically acclaimed play Skintight, which first premiered at Roundabout Theatre in 2018 starring Idina Menzel as Jodi Isaac. Skintight was produced by Island City Stage in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Daniel closed a very successful run playing Scuttle in Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Franklin Performing Arts Company in Franklin, Massachusetts under the direction and choreography of Broadway’s Christopher Rice-Thomson.
